Enjoy Hidden Herald online from home this winter:
Hear all 31 audio plays without venturing into the cold!
What do you see when you walk downtown St. Paul? What do you think you know about this place by looking at the building facades, the people driving past, sitting on park benches, or sleeping on the sidewalk? We think there’s a lot more to know than meets the eye about the people and places who make this city special and make this city run.
Enjoy 31 short audio plays about the downtown area, contemplating everything from naturalization ceremonies at the Landmark Center to the inner musings of benches in Mears Park. Drawing on the light hearted and thoughtful, the whimsical and poignant, the musical and romantic, they are linked through QR codes around the downtown area. Listeners are invited to follow the QR codes on a journey around the cultural district to hear the stories of the people and places that define our city.
Throw on a episodic Hidden Herald series while going about your day:
There are three more ways to navigate between the plays on the streets of St. Paul:
1. Be intrepid!
Wander downtown St. Paul and look for a sticker like this on the ground. Most are on sidewalks, but two of them are up in the Skyway. Scan the QR code to listen to the audio play. Simple. Free!
Follow our social media channels for extra information about plays and their locations.
2. Get a beautiful guided tour!
Get a beautiful paper map, designed by local artist Jephemera, to carry with you on your adventures, including all locations, short play synopses, and five carefully curated trails of various lengths to give you a guided variety of experiences. Purchase in advance for $25, pick up at Lost Fox or MetroNOME Brewery, and go! Reuse and share as you like. (Maps will be available for pickup starting Friday, August 2nd.)
3. Get a digital navigator!
Get a customized google map and a complete list of the plays. Use this on your device to guide you to the QR codes around town. Purchase of these is on a sliding scale. Pick your own price.
Note: Despite our best efforts, we cannot guarantee that all stickers will be available at all times. If you believe a sticker is missing, please email Frances at frances@wlproductions.org, and we will do our best to replace it in a timely manner.
