Bring this experience to family and community caregivers – and all those who support them – at your next event!
In the fall of 2024, Wonderlust Productions produced Thank You for Holding: The Caregiver Play, based on the true stories of caregivers across the spectrum of experiences from professional to volunteer caregiving, in institutions and at home. Audiences experienced a series of interlocking scenes, based on true stories, that use drama, song, movement, and humor to provoke conversation, thought, and entertainment.
Now, we are offering the play in a variety of formats and settings, paired with facilitated interactive activities for audiences large and small, to inspire deeper conversation about caregivers and their needs.
We all know caregivers. At some point or another we will be caregivers or cared for, probably both. This content brings forward conversations we need to have to sustain and support our communities as caregiving in our lives grows more and more prevalent. We’d love to talk with you about which option is best for you and your community and work together to find a way to make it accessible.
The play and set was created with portability and modularity in mind. Each scene stands on its own, presenting a different angle on a different caregiving situation. This mirrors the experience of caregiving that can feel quite solitary to the caregiver as well as the reality that caregiving is quietly connecting us all the time, even when we’re unaware of it. This structure gives us the freedom to offer the play in a variety of formats, including those outlined below. See a sample here:
2026 Menu of Experiences:
1. Live scenes and facilitated interaction and discussion
Choose 2-5 live scenes from Thank You for Holding to be performed in your community. We partner with you to craft interactive activities, conversation, and shared snacks or a meal in addition to the shared experience of the scenes. ($10,000-18,000 We will work with you to find funding sources.)
2. Live in person viewing of video scenes with facilitated conversation
Choose 2-5 scenes from the video of Thank You for Holding to screen in person, followed by a facilitated talkback. ($1,800-4,500)
3. Live online viewing of video scenes with facilitated conversation
Choose 2-5 scenes from the video of of Thank You for Holding to screen in a group-watch experience online, followed by an virtual facilitated talkback. ($800-1,500)
4. Asynchronous online viewing followed by facilitated conversation
Watch the Thank You for Holding video as a whole or in parts asynchronously and then attend a virtual facilitated conversation, including story-sharing. ($800-2,000)
5. Experience the full production in your community!
Because the play is fairly portable, we could remount the full production in a non-theatrical setting such as a medical or supportive care facility, followed by a post-show conversation. To tour the full-length production, we would bring original cast members to play the lead roles and seek local caregivers and others to play the smaller roles. This would involve a local partner helping with outreach to those interested in performing. This is more involved and more costly than the other options, but we’d love to work with you to make it happen if you’re interested. (Price TBD)
